- Esjay Landscapes + Pools has a proud and prestigious history. The business was founded by Sam Collie, one of Melbourne’s most respected landscapers and construction specialists, with over 20 years in the Victorian landscape industry. Completing his Certification at Swinburne University, Sam has built a boutique studio on a foundation of dedication, meticulous craftsmanship and a genuine belief that every outdoor space should enhance the way you live and add lasting value to your home.
- Emily Collie joined Esjay Landscapes + Pools as Creative Director and co-owner in 2011, bringing with her a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Charles Sturt University, further studies in Applied Landscape Design at NMIT, and over two decades of experience across design, marketing, brand strategy and communications. Her role encompasses the full creative and strategic direction of the business, from visual identity and client experience through to marketing, operations and the day-to-day leadership of a multidisciplinary team.
- In 2024, Esjay Landscapes + Pools took centre stage at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, designing and constructing Open Air, a boutique show garden that stopped visitors in their tracks and captured the imagination of thousands. Conceived as the ultimate urban courtyard retreat, Open Air wove together sweeping curves, a crisp white steel pergola, a custom brass water curtain, a bespoke in-situ concrete daybed and a lavish circular spa into a space that felt at once intimate and extraordinary. The garden demonstrated with absolute clarity what Esjay does best, turning a compact outdoor space into something genuinely breathtaking.
- Open Air was featured on Better Homes and Gardens (Channel 7, Season 30, Episode 8), bringing the Esjay name to a national audience of millions and cementing the studio’s reputation as one of Melbourne’s most exciting and innovative outdoor design teams. It was a landmark moment for the business.
