About This Project

Set across a series of terraced levels, this Donvale landscape design was conceived to feel like a slow reveal, each terrace opening onto the next with its own purpose and mood.

At the heart of it all sits a curved concrete pool and spa, the pool’s feature edge softening the geometry of the space and extending into a built-in bench for lingering in the shallows. A pool beach offers a gentler, gradual entry into the water, while the pale, textured concrete terrace surrounding the pool grounds the space against the surrounding greenery.

Nearby, a lounging area shaded by a statement umbrella offers a spot to slow down, while the entertainment terrace deck extends the living space outdoors, built for long afternoons that drift into evening. An outdoor pizza oven anchors the entertaining zone, drawing family and friends together around the fire.

A feature wall with curved stairs marks the transition between levels, its sculptural form doubling as a piece of garden architecture in its own right. Below, a lower path terrace unfolds with curved, stepped plantings that soften the descent and blur the line between built form and garden.

Further along, a fire pit area with seating creates a second gathering point, designed for cooler nights and quiet conversation. Throughout, layered drift plantings soften every edge in loose, naturalistic sweeps of texture and colour. An outdoor shower sits tucked into the greenery, a small luxury after a swim, and a curved bench seat offers another place to pause and take it all in.

Our Donvale landscape design is a garden built for living in. Designed by Esjay Landscapes + Pools, each terrace is considered on its own terms yet tied together into a single, unhurried whole.
